Default Exhaust hanger bushing up at tranny mount

This is a somewhat open question because I dont have a good picture to go with it...2001 exhaust pipe has a 1/2 inch diameter hanger arm that slides into a ?rubberish? Tubular bushing at the tranny mount plate. Mine is rotted and squished letting the pipe rub and clank. This bushing is not part of the tranny mount itself but part of the large plate between the tranny mount and the tranny. It is several inches in front of the secondary cat/ resonator above the tranny mount crossmember about a foot back from the right angle bend where it goes from sideways to front and back.I could use a new bushing? If any one can help out...will try and get a photo but every day its ****ty and cold...thanks

You have to drill out the spot welds of the cage that hold the bushing in, then substitute with some bolts. The 'replacement' bushing only seems to have a curved slit in it, and most of the hangers are just a rod, so most just end up drilling it out. But you could realistically use any chunk of rubber you want and just cut to size.

Post #405 in my build thread has some pictures of how I resolved this issue. I used part DEA A5208 / 53000101, which needs to be modified to work. The correct replacement part is obsolete.

2000+ does not use the same bushing as '99 and older. It is a round donut style bushing.

The good news is that this bushing was still in use last I checked. The same part number is used on a 2.0L turbo JL, except it's a silicone rubber bushing to deal with the heat. I'd imagine it has had many other uses in the Chrysler ecosystem. Based on a google search, I think it is part number 52085085, but I can confirm when I get home if you like.

Here's a 2000+ trans mount exhaust hanger bracket.

Thanks for the information..surprisingly my 01 exhaust hanger looks nothing like the ones you guys have. It's tubular and mounted off to the side. Mine is a 2001 with the AW4. This might make it easier to replace or repair. The tubular bracket seems very strongly welded but I don't think I need to remove it. As you can see my original welded hanger rod broke off years ago and the 2nd welded on rod also broke off. I was able to make a suitable repair using a muffler clamp and a L bracket. If the tubular bushing hadn't turned soft it would have continued to function acceptable. If i cant find a replacement bushing, I might be able to stiffen it up with some fuel hose as the inner core pressed into original bushing. As usual its in a crappy place to access and its 15 degrees outside. Woo hoo. Thanks again for the help

Hi thanks for that new info...you must have posted while I was putting mine together. Having a new bushing makes things much easier..thanks..and yea that welded arm doesn't appear removeable without monster effort. Good thing I don't have to

Seems decent enough for 25 bucks...not so sure about 75. The center hole is 5/8 and its 2 1/2 long. I could never get a good picture of the factory model, only side view so I don't know if the center holes are the same, and its been too lousy to take mine apart...will have to wait until it turns a little nicer
