It's perfectly fine to run it there. However, given the gargantuan size of that thing, for the love of your Cherokee and all that is holy, please make sure you have a proper fuse somewhere within the first few inches of wherever that wire hooks up to for power. My best guess would be 40 amp fuse or less, unless you are running some kind of brain blubbering amplification. Especially if you are running it through the metal firewall and there is even a remote chance that it may rub and short out against that.
If that thing shorted out without a fuse, you'd probably set fire to and/or melt a good portion of your underhood harness, as well as possibly damaging your battery, alternator, etc. Bad news...

Haha. Yes. It's a 4 gauge wire but I do have a pretty beefy fuse within a foot of the battery and I will have a gromet in the firewall. I also plan on wrapping the cord in that black ridged plastic stuff that goes around wires to make it look nicer and zip tie to the other wireset
