4" Lift XJ -- Longer upper and lower front control arms?
Greetings,
Just threw in a set of junkyard ZJ lift coils in a '97 XJ and got 4" lift. Found some lower control arms that are 1" longer (upCountry). Do I need to replace the upper control arms also? Trying to get by with a budget build and am having nasty death wobble!
Thanks in advance for any guidance. Jim

Uppers should be fine up to 4.5, they will be at a crappy angle and ride like crap but it will still work. As above mentioned you alinement is way off now and that may be the cause of the death wobble, or it would be wore tie rod ends, bad all joints, mis balanced tires, ect ect ect

Thanks for the input--definitely a newbie here to suspension geometry. Going to the boneyard tomorrow and grap a ZJ pitman arm (about a 1" drop), install the longer LCAs (1" longer), throw on larger tires and take it in for an alignment. From my research, you can DIY align, or go to the shop, where you have to be certain that they know the alignment techniques for lifted vehicles. Will check all bushings/connections on the track bar. Not certain if it's mandatory to get an adjustable track bar... Thanks again!
