who has removed their mechanical fan in their xj and run 2 or 3 electric fans instead? what size fans did you use, how did you mount them to the radiator, how did you wire them, and what brand did you use?
im thinking about doing this swap im my xj soon

I replaced my mechanical fan with 2 electric ones. They were either 10 or 11 inches (some offbrand, Ebay special) and spanned the entire height of the radiator. I just used those zip strip type mounts and wired both fans up to a relay and a toggle in the cab. My rig is strictly for wheelin' so I didn't need anything extravagant, just simple and cost effective.
There is alot of information about this out there. Pretty simple install.

I am running a BMW M3 Electric fan. It is a 2 speed fand. Motor and blade are the same as the Taurus fan. I got it at PickNPull on half price weekend for $12. The shroud is smaller and more narrow. It fit in my jeep much better. I wired mine with the Volvo relay. I wired mine to a on-off-on switch and I manually turn it on and off. I have only needed the high speed twice. Once I forgot to turn on the low speed and it got warm. The other was an extremely long climb. I love the HP gain from deleting the mech fan.
I will add this. If your having over heating issues I would look at all of your other cooling system before converting to electric. If you have a bad radiator your still gonna have that same rad after the swap.

If you grab the thermal switches from the volvo it will come on when temps are reached. Just hit a pick n pull and look at older volvos with dual fans grab the relays and thermal switches wire it in. Mine only comes on when it gets warm, but wiring a switch would be easy.

I may wire it up automatically later with an over ride off switch.
