I can get my hands on a 9in and dana 44 from a early bronco with disc brakes, posi trac, and 4.10s for around 500 bucks. has anyone on here done a swap like this? I know how to set up the rear, but im not sure about the front because of the radius arms. Any thoughts?

cut off the factory brackets and order a set of swap brackets from one of the many companys that offer them. You could also build them yourself, there isn't much to the XJ bracket setup.

low pinion and small joints (requiring aftermarket axle shafts to upgrade). not the greatest front compared to the wider and stronger high pinion in the f100/150. its better than the hp 30 because of the bigger ring and pinion and higher spline count and stuff, but not much better imho.

Honestly if I was to go it again I would spend the money and buy a Dana 60. The Dana 44 is the I'm rushed and wanna go wheel axle, sure it'll work but not for long

I. Would buy a 14 bolt build it and stick it under the jeep

Then buy a 60 and solely throw money at it till it's done then stick it under there

Talking from past expience

thanks for the help. Right now im only running 33's but because of a good summer job (im 16) ill be getting some 35s or maybe 37s. should i just ditch the whole idea of the 44? i didnt really think id be ready for full widths because this is my everyday school rig, but if i can get a set for a good price, how hard of a job is it? I put an 8.8 in the back of mine a year ago but that was easy because it was pretty much a drop in. Any good writeups on it?
