I am going to be going up to 6 inches of lift here soon, and wondering if I need a longer driveshaft or will I be able to get away with it? including I already have a 2" Transfer case drop.

More info on your jeep please. But in anycase, if you have an aw4 (automatic) and a np231 with an SYE, you can simply replace your rear driveshaft with a stock front driveshaft. That's what I do and haven't had any issues with it. Take the tcase drop out

2 inch transfer case drop?! Get rid of that nonsense haha. But really anything over 4.5 inch of lift should have an sye and new to you driveshaft

When I bought my XJ it had 9 in. of lift & a stock style rear driveshaft a inch or 2 longer than stock. I lowered it down to 6.5 & wheeled it for a while like that until I eventually did a h&t.
Never had a issue. But I was nervous the shaft would fall out.
Just be aware that if it does fall out you can damage the splines on the output & shaft.

Even if money is tight a hack and tap sye is cheap and you don't have to remove or open the t case to install it,And you can run a used or rebuilt oem front driveshaft just make sure its the right length you need,
