I just picked up a 98 XJ sport 5 speed, can I still use the front drive shaft out of a cherokee to replace my rear shaft when I lift it?

Yes, they're different. The 5spd will have a longer rear DS. Certain front DS's might work, every setup has different length DS's. An auto with a LP front axle might be long enough, otherwise I think front DS's of grand cherokee's are longer too.

Install SYE, measure, go find.

Other option is getting any front DS and taking it to a shop that builds DS's. they can make it any length you want.

I'll measure the grand cherokee shaft and hope it works, thanks for the advice
