vs. constant velocity driveshaft
I did some google research and checked into some other threads on other forums
and I still dont understand why the DC style is considered better?
I plan on building a 90% of the time DD. I want just want an adventure xj (as soon as I can find a cheap virgin) and want it to be sitting on 5.5 inches and 33's. probably lock the front way down the line. just trying to get my research out of the way now
I'm really interested in IRO but it's pretty pricey for the complete and I want to cut a corner by getting the hack n tap and referbished d shaft. double cardan is 250.00 extra
thanks

I don't know that it's considered better I just don't know of any CV drive shafts that hold up. Early XJs had them up front and ZJs often came with them and neither like to run with a lift. The DC is also servicable whereas the CV is not. You'll hear lots of people say they are running a rear CV shaft but 90% of the time they are mistaken and actually have a DC, most think it's a CV.

Remember SYE requires you remove the T case and take it apart.

I'm sorry, but this is not entirely correct.
I have installed a few SYE's on vehicles with little to no lift, and with the correct yoke substituted for the "CV" style yoke, a standard driveshaft can be installed without any issues.
