Thats exactly what i had before i did the sound bar! It was ok then, I didnt have speaker grills so I was scared to kick them. Then one day a creek crossing was a little deeper than expected. ya... no more speakers after that

As far a legality, everyone i'e ever talked to here in Utah says its legal here...however, I drove around doorless for a few months with no issues, but one day I was sitting in the walmart parking lot and a highway patrolman walked up to me and said, "If i caught you driving this with no doors, you would be walking home" I asked why, he said "Unless the manufacturer designed the part to be removable for use on the road, it is illegal, that includes truck tailgates and especially doors." So I asked him about tube doors, he shot that down also.. I asked him a bunch of questions and came to the conclusion that I better put my doors on because it woulda got impounded in a heartbeat... then later, in MOAB!! my buddy got stopped by a local policeman and gave him a nice big ticket for driving around with no doors..he said the only reason he didnt get impounded was because he had the doors (2 door) in the back haha. But that's just UTAH, and i know other states are a lot more lenient with stuff like that...anyway that's my 2 cents worth of junk!

Yeah, haha they are in a pretty vulnerable spot right there, but i try to stay outta mud and water haha
Here in WV all I need is a rear view.
I've passed a ton of cops and all they do is look at me funny but never been pulled over.
I have a thread with a list of all of the mirror laws for each state if you want to check it out

Technically The doors ARE removable from the factory. The doors on a wrangler dont just pull off from the factory, you've got to take the nut off the bottom of the bolt holding the door on. The only difference between our jeeps and a wrangler is we have 12 bolts to remove and they have 4 nuts. Cop was just being a dick is all it was. If i EVER get a ticket for being doorless, I'll make it a point to go to court and fight it to the full extent of the law. Just to prove a point.

I find laws like that funny because the doors are designed to be removed. only thing ive been told here in oregon was to make sure i had atleast rear view mirrors

Only rule in Colorado on that is the mirror thing as well. I made a removable mirror out of a motorcycle mirror that mounts to my hinge when I have my doors off. And no, XJ doors aren't structural. It won't change body flex with them on or off. The hatch on the other hand is needed to keep everything straight unless you have a cage. Thats why most of the chop top rigs have some many issues after they chop the back.

But ask anybody that doesn't have an xj, with the doors off itll fold in half!! "Unibodies can't wheel, they have no business being offroad" says every Wrangler guy.. Yada yada..those people with "real" rigs just refuse to accept realities.
