Default Dog Step

Had some scrap steel tube laying around, an old piece of plywood covered in fiberglass, and two old dogs that have trouble jumping up into the Jeep. So I whipped up this folding step that helps 'em get aboard. Mounts into the hitch receiver (obviously).

Well...when ya get tired of duckin' the fog...you can always go and pluck the goat.

hehehe

But seriously...those flares make the Jeep look ALOT better. You should do a thread on the install.

Great idea! It's hard to tell though how much of your license plate it covers up when it's folded up. You may get stopped by the 5-0, and you'd hate to have them catch you........you know.......the user name thing.

License plate is still readable. I could cut down the board but it is already encapsulated in fiberglass and sealed up...and I hate to ruin that. FYI the rubber diamond tread strips are a HF item at $3 ea. I love these things; I have them all across the rear bumper too.

The flares are Notch flares; cost was about $800 by the time I got them installed and took me maybe 30 hrs. I didn't really know WTF I was doing and had never welded sheet metal... but I am very persistent and figured it out. I live in a VERY damp environment (hence the username) so extra care was taken to treat & seal off any bare metal. This Jeep has 210,000 miles and zero rust...and I want it to stay that way. I can throw up a bunch of pics if anybody is interested.

Then again, it might just be like any other aftermarket flare installation. I dunno. Plenty of pics out there already.

Oh, the username - I got the idea from a boat I saw out on the Coast; best boat name I ever saw: Duckin the Fog. At the time I saw it there were three old guys sitting on the back deck drinking. And this particular port is known for being perpetually foggy, so the name was both hilarious and relevant. Being a boat captain by trade, I tend to remember boat names that stand out. This one did.

Switch the first letters of your username. That's why this thread was so amusing. The topic is just icing on the cake.
