Default Dodge RAM to XJ axle swap question...

So I just lifted my 99 xj with a RE 5.5 Long Arm, and now I'm looking to regear. On my local craigslist there is a 1999 Dodge RAM 4wd with 4.56 axles being parted out. That is all the info listed. My question is:what kind of axles are these likely to be? how difficult would it be to swap this into a cherokee? What questions should I be asking the seller? All advice/input welcome, thanks!

Honestly nothing from a dodge is worth the truth to swap in.Unless your gonna bigger then a 35 regear what you got now.If you had to swap axles close to stock width the front 1980 and newer jeep wagoneer its a dana 44 you can use the rear axle too.If you go full width 14 bolt rear and ford dana 60 front.

its likely to be a useless vacuum disco front housing. don't look at anything dodge. it would cost WAY less to just regear your current axles. forget about any sort of axle swaps that aren't in the XJ family until you learn more about it

Thanks guys... I guess I'll just keep on looking. Its gonna cost me at least $1300 to regear what I got, so I was just hoping I might get more bang for my buck if I could find and swap a good axle that is already geared properly.

To swap the front axle from something that is not a bolt in will cost you more then 1300 in parts and labor.A front truss kit with all the goodies and two driveshafts will be 1200 bucks and you still got steering linkage and brake lines and maybe replacing the brakes on both axles. And if you can't weld the labor will bump it up to close to 3k i bet.
