This may be a dumb question, but I just got a 99 XJ. It came with a 3 inch lift but also all the parts for a 4.5 inch lift except for the shocks. It has stock front shocks and some aftermarket rear shocks. Do I need to buy new shocks for the new lift or am I able to use all the stock shocks. I'm on a tight budget so I will get the shocks if I need to but if it's possible to run without new ones, I'd prefer that for now until I get some more money put to the side.
At 4.5", you will need new shocks. Now, you can drive for a little while on 3" lift ones until you get new ones, but not on stock ones, sorry. If you use 3" lift shocks you just won't have full suspension articulation because the shocks will limit it due to length. Majority of aftermarket shocks manufactured are for 0-3" lift and 4.5-6.5" lift.

Bar pin elimanators will get some back These are kyb monomax feel very good. I dont know if theyre valved stiffer or differently than jeep application shocks. I do know they work damn good on jeep. On street and dirt Fairly simple to do if you have a buddy that can weld. I bought a box of like 200 of these shock tabs like 10 years ago. They have curve to fit a 1 3/4\" tube. I cut them flat here. These are hand me down shocks from my 2002 dodge 3500 stock height shocks. You can also get a adapeter to get eye shocks instead of stud style.
