Default Disc brake conversion

Ok I got some rear disc brakes from an 03 liberty with the 8.25. I have the backing plates, bolts calipers, everything I need, EXCEPT the brake lines, I cant figure out what lines I need. I plan on a 4.5 inch lift so I know I need longer brake lines. I was thinking a Rough Country extended line so I keep the same lines as the XJ. Or does anyone else have any idea on what would just bolt on. I dont know much about brakes, such as if fittings are the same so Ill sent it to a shop to get done properly, but I need to know the parts so its as painless as possible.

A good lift will come with an extended brake block. But the liberty hard lines, but the nuts on the lines are to big. I had to cut my lines, put the original nuts back on.

Is it possible to use the XJ lines? I have the parts to do a disc swap so I'd like to know.

And OP, I have a Dakota brake line in the rear of mine with 6" of lift. I don't remember the year exactly.

Nope, the liberty swap uses the brake lines that aren't able to separate at the hard/soft line connection.

Not sure I understand.

They're not able to separate at the distribution block? Why would you need to use the xj nuts?

The nuts on the KJs are too large to fit in the splitter on the axle. I had to remove these nuts and put the right size on then reflare the line.

The line unable to separate is at the point where the hard changes to soft to attach to the caliper. Ie why you can't just swap the hardline out for another since it's not removable

H380528 brake lines will allow you to connect the kj calipers to the xj hard line, I did have to weld a new mount to hold the lines in place. There's a good write up on the swap elsewhere...sorry no link

I see. I didn't know it turned to a soft line before the caliper.

Yeah my whole conversion with visiting JY and travel time was a total of 5 hours.

I'm still rigging up my e-brake but that'll be finished soon enough

The KJ lines are metric and the XJ distribution block that goes from the soft line to the body is Imperial.
I cut the lines and used new fittings and re flared the lines. However I have since learned that there are adapter fittings to go from metric to Imperial.
I wish I had done that. Those Liberty lines are really hard steel! Broke my flaring tool!!

Ok, so right now Im in the process of getting basically all new parts, basically just reusing the backing plates, rather get all new stuff and be done with it for the next few years. Then Ill try to do a full write up. I bet this will take me a few months. Considering Ive had the Liberty axle for a month before I even asked this question. I have the backing plates calipers, and lines off now at least. The disc and brake pads are pretty trashed.
