Trying to decide which lift is the best for my XJ. Right now its 100% stock.
Planning on using it as DD with light to moderate offroading including mudding.
Just want to know extra thing i'll have to do for the 4.5" lift such as transfer case drop? brakeline extension? etc etc.
really want to end up running 33's but doubt that they'll fit under a 3" lift.
also, what are the best lift kits for either lift under $800???
i know i'll need full leaf packs due to sagging...
pics are helpful as always! thanks everyone!

i ran 33's on 4.5. your gonna need more stuff with the 4.5 inch than just a 3. but its worth it. you need brakes extended and new trac bar, lca's and t-case drop. your also gonna have to trim to fit them
Hay i got a 3 inch lift and wasnt very impressed buy it and wand to put in 2 inch pucks and lower the shakal but what else will i need to buy to have a sucssesfull 5 inch lift...????
BTW the pix of my Jeep is a 3 inch lift

for the most part, anything over 3" on an xj is opening a can of worms.
if your rig is a dd, stay w/3". it will flex good, ride good, and look good. if you want to make it more capable, put a locker in it.
when i went from 3-4.5" i honestly regretted all the extra work and harsher ride w/short arms.
4.5, or 6" will not make your fender wheels bigger. go 3" and trim.

The main thing in ur decision should be your offroad use just how much off roading r u really going to do a hand full of times in a year, so a 3 inch lift is going to be more practical, and the second you stick 33's on ur XJ and the gear ratio is below 3.73, ur really going to notice and ur not going to be happy and ur looking for gears. So in my experience go with The 3 inch lift and 31 x 10.50's get a feel for it, go to www.fatbobsgarage.com best place to buy starter lifts.
