If you have 3.73 or higher currently you don't need a new carrier, lower than 3.73 then you will. What axle is in it currently?

You will need a new carrier to go to 4.56. You can get a full locker, 3.73 and up carrier with lunchbox locker, or get a detroit locker. Bottom line is you need a new carrier, and if your doing the back you will need to do the front unless you want to blow your TC. I have a fully built 8.8 setting in the barn waiting to go in, have to get the front built, setting on the fence if I want an E locker or ARB.

The factory limited slip is junk, it's no loss getting rid of it, I would just go with an open carrier and put a Spartan locker in it.

You can use a Yukon 4.56T on your current traclock. Jury is out on them for me. I have seen several that were so worn and loose I thought they were open. But on the other hand I have seen one that works quite well.

Is that the thin or the thick gear set?
