Dana 35 Carrier Size
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the Jeep world, just bought a 1989 cherokee running 33's, a 5.5" rubicon express long arm lift, and some other goodies. I'm looking at getting a lunch box locker for the rear, gonna daily drive this beast and lightly wheel on weekends, but cannot find any information on finding the carrier size for a dana 35. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

What do you mean carrier size. There's only c-clip and no c-clip. And yours could be either of them. And you need to know that before ordering the locker I think.
What would you suggest doing instead of locking it? Finding a factory 44? Or dropping something else in.

How strong are the 30's? I've heard that if I throw a lunchbox locker in the front it might make steering difficult and its manners in the snow suck. I will be using this jeep as a daily driver to and from work and around town so would a selectable locker be the best bet in the front?

Many debates on front lockers... It's true that in snow, it will slide all over the place and really, selectable lockers are the best for front, but they're so d*mn expensive. It's best to lock the rear first. Find you a C8.25 at your local junkyard... they're easy to find, then lock it instead... you'll be glad you did. Night and day difference.
I've also been told the 8.8 out of a Ford will work under them. Like an Explorer axle. Has anyone done this before? Does it bolt up as well? Or is there a bit of modification for them to fit in.

cut off all the old shock and spring mounts, weld on new spring and shock perches. and you will need to buy the flange adapter to make your stock driveshaft work with the 8.8 flange.
not that hard to do, but it is a little more than most people are willing to bite off.
but disc brakes, huge aftermarket, and its a much stronger axle than the d44 or 8.25.

Cool I just learned something on this one, didn't know there was different carriers except for gear ratio splits possibly. So I'm guessing 88 is the last year of non c clip?
