dana 30 poor mans lsd?
My question is about shiming the axle spider gears to make a poor man's lsd so don't get side tracked or rude with me. if you have done it please tell me your experience.
I can't post a link Google poor man's lsd volvo it's the first link they talk about it.
the first link is pretty good all you are doing is manually engaging and disengaging the ring. people do this when running a locker (or welded) to turn sharper and travel on the road.

Mehh. Its already been said a few times in this thread, that is not to "lock" your front axle, its to eliminate the vacuum disconnect system on the axle. The only thing that cable will do is engage the front axle in 4wd.

I have wondered for people with the CAD axle, if you could weld the spider gears, and then use the CAD to keep the axles free to spin separately in 2WD. Could this be useful for a dedicated "budget build" trail rig which might have to make the odd quick jaunt on the road? So, your front axle would essentially be free in 2WD, then fully locked in 4WD. I realize that one would have to trust the CAD an awful lot to consider doing this.. But hey, it's just an idea..

You'll also need a new seal for the long side and a block-off plate for the Vac. Disco. opening.
I've got an AlloyUsa upgrade kit on the site. Pricey but worth every penny.

So I have to change my axle shafts? Sounds like Id loose the crappy cad system. Im thinking of doing an Aussie locker up front soon and plan to run 35s with the locker
