I was under the impression that a D44 diff was a D44 diff.

What size tire and transmission are you running? 0.55 change in ratio isn't very much for that high cost.

No.
You cannot use Rubicon D44 gears or Reverse Spiral (Think Ford HP D44) gear sets.

Be careful buying used gears, inspect them thoroughly before shelling out the cash for 'em.

Why do they call them the same if they are not the same?

I disagree with your above comment about gears swap not being worth it too.
I have AW4 30x9.5s 3.55s and I just swapped in an axle with 4.10s .

The difference is night and day all I did was swap in the axle well it was alittle more than a simple bolt in but I did go from 3.55s to 4.10s.

Full axle sure, that's cheap, and other upgrades along the way make it worth it. I swapped from 3.07 to 3.55! But setting up new gears in an existing axle IMO should be a big jump unless one is 100% sure one will remain at that tire size forever. Eggspensive

I do gear swaps so I just have gear cost plus bearings and a set up kit.
Fixing to do the d30 in my rig. I do agree on the big jump to a point my situation is my jeep is my daily(for now) I really will need 4.56 gears to go with 33s and be worth a damn on the rocks, that said I drive more on the pavement than I do on trails right now so getting an axle with 4.10s was a no brainer as my D35 chit the bed(read I was not spending another penny on it) anyway.
