Default D30 Disconnect question?

Looking to lock the front end of my 01. I have access to a HP D30 that I could build on but it has the disconnect. Could I weld up the spiders, run a cable disconnect, and NOT install a locker?

shure... why not... Not advised. But sure...

Just keep in mind the 260 small ujoints you are stuck with...

Do the center axle disconnect delete kit from rustys. Then use your 01 axle shafts in the older D30. That way you have the bigger u joints. I just swapped a 93 axle into my 00 and did the same process I said and I put in an Aussie.

if you do use the disco axle and weld the spiders and keep the smaller 260 shafts, keep in mind that turning right will be a very wide turning radius, while left turns will be short due to the fact the drivers side wheel will always have power.

if you run larger than 31's, you do risk eating u-joints as soon as you lock that cable. if you have 33's or 35's, you will snap a joint as soon as you lock it in on a rock.

been there, done that...

rumour has it that in 1995, the YJ wrangler with ABS has split shafts with 297 joints... haven't been able to find any tho.

The CAD axles are weaker on many levels, don't waste you're money or your time.

Get a Non-Disco HP D30 from any JY in your area....you'll thank me later.

I avoid disco housings like the plague. Nothing but bad luck and headaches whenever those things are around.
