Stock shafts should be fine up to 35s on both axles depending on how hard you are on the throttle. You can probably run 37s safely on built D30/8.25 axles.

I've read a lot on this subject lately not only on here but in off roading magazines (four wheeler, jp) because I'm moving up to 35s from 33s. On a built dana 30 and chrysler 8.25 setup I've read consistently not to go bigger than 35s for serious off roading.

This ^^, I personally wouldnt do 35's. The rear is fine, but I've broken 3 axle shafts in the D30 last year already and Im on 33x10.5's. Maybe time for cromo's?

35s are fine, just make sure to get upgraded shafts.

I run 33x12:50's on a 15x8 wheel and a set of 35's on beadlocks so far no breakage but I go easy on the skinny peddle.

I run 35x12.5x15 LTB's with beadlocks (so heavy tire/wheel combo) and so far, so good. My D30 is trussed and I'm running stock inners with chromo outers, c-gussets, 4.56 gears, and a locker. The rear is a 29-spline 8.25 that's locked, stock shafts, and I'm getting ready to truss it since I won an IRO truss at Winterfest. I'm more technical than woo-pow when it comes to driving style. I run out in the Midwest, so rocks and mud for terrain.

Yes, I'm running a Warn manual hub conversion kit and it upgrades the outers to chromo. Inners are still stock for now and I've tack welded the caps on the u-joints on the stock side. Works for my junk currently.

I got locked d30 and 8.25 on 35s with bead locks stock shafts in back and grand cherokee cv shafts in front. I am not easy on it . I have been fine. Carry spare shafts with you, you'll be fine in sure . Just put 4.88s in it so I don't know about those yet. I am going 37s when these wear out too.

Gears = more torque
More torque = broken parts
4:88 + 37s = KABOOM
