Default D-ring hitch

Would it be alright to use a d-ring inside a ball mount hitch where the ball would bolt? They look to be just as thick. Just and idea because I can get a ball mount and d-ring from my tractor supply locally

Yea your good to go. Just never recover with a standard ball, cuz they arent rated for that much force and will break off. But the d-ring receiver will work fine

And I don't have to worry about the ball mount breaking?

I use a hitch mount d-ring and never had a problem. Used it to pull people out and been pulled out with it.

Tractor Supply actually sells receivers with d-rings that fit into a 2" hitch receiver.

Don't mind the junk in the back, only pic I have with with the d-ring/ballmount (I carry 2 of them along with other things in my recovery gear). Has held up great and comes in real handy. Would like to get that winch in my pic looked at in near future though.. (Warn 9.5XP, buddy got out of wheeling and didn't need, but winch solenoids click with power applied, but no movement..)

About the winch, I had a warn that would do the exact same thing. The solenoids would click but nothing would happen. Look on amazon at warn winch replacement motors, I got mine off there for like 70$ and now the winch works good as new and I have 5 or 6 hard pulls on it.

Thanks, I'll definitely have to look into that! Would like to have it going by winter as the XJ tends to get calls for pulling people out of ditches lol. That would make the cost of this winch a great deal (it used to work great a year ago).
