I'm sure there are tons of write ups around here somewhere but I just can't seem to find them. I'm planning on cutting my fenders and have no idea on how to go about this. If some one can shed some light on me that'd be awesome. What to cut them with? Best way to take off stock fenders.
What to do with the wheel well. Best way to fold.
Things like that and anything else that might surprise me.
Thanks!

I put bushwacker flat flares on my '90 xj, the instructions were very helpful. You may want to checkout the instructions on bushwhackers website for ideas. I used a hf 3" cut off saw, it was easy to control and not tear up the surrounding metal. The stock flares on the older style and newer style are different but on mine I broke most of the bolt getting them off.

Those cuts are 10 times better then my cuts. I'm in the middle of installing my BH flares. This is my first time using a angle grinder but even if its not perfect the BH flares hind any imperfections.
Thanks, first time for me too taking an angle grinder to body panels. Use painters tape, lay everything out, double check dimensions, then cut.… nice & slow! It'll eat up the thin material really fast.

You could also use rear TJ fender flares. I opened up the front wheel well quite a bit with using the curve of the TJ flares. I plan on doing the same to the rear wheel well.

For the front, just cut with a cut off wheel to wherever your heart desires
except near the bottom, towards the pass/driver doors...I did a cut and fold there to keep the bottom of the fender tough.
Then I built these...and you can kind of see the shape i cut out, it runs right below the body line, so I can fit 34's on here with a 3 inch lift for sure, 35 mights be tight haha

EDIT: anybody who pays for BW's is getting played:P

Be careful with how much you cut if you plan on going with Bushwacker Flat Flares. With that style flare it is possible to cut to much, in which case you would not be able to use them. I don't believe the same is true with the pocket style fender flares. I would recommend that you get the flares before you hack the fenders up. The instructions that come with the flares will be a lot more useful on uncut fenders.

Yeah I like the pocket style.
I'm so tight on cash right now I just can't afford them. I just worked 44 hours in 3 days doing construction for my bro who's a contractor just to make up for some stuff. I'm hurtin'!

I was hoping I could just cut them to get some more clearance for now but it seems it would be smarter to wait to get the fenders.. which makes sense
