I'm pretty sure I had it extended to about that of a ZJ. Since I pulled the wrong size ZJ shaft at a JY. I pulled it off a straight 6, I guess the V8s are longer? Anyway, I had a shop use that ZJ one and my front XJ one and they retubed/extended it to I think 33'' or so. I think it was fine when I installed it. I don't recall it being compressed. This had to have happened when I moved from a 6.5 pack to a 3.5''.

That shouldn't make that much difference. I went from 7" in the rear to 5.5 ,3.5 re leafs and a 1" shackle. And used the same angle on my 8.8 and the same drive shaft. Loosen the eye bolts and cycle the leafs on the ground before I tightening them.

Loosen the u bolts? I tightened the u bolts when I had the axle jacked up to tire height. I tightened the front and rear leaf bolts when the axle was lowered. Possibly the issue?

Cheers

So you think the relocation kit pushed it forward? I can see that happening. I actually had a custom shaft made from extending two front XJ shafts at Suburban Drive Line. They retubed one and extended it for like $300 and it's essentially a new custom shaft. A buddy had a custom one made from them and it cost him $400, so.

Should I move my shackle back a bit? Would that help at all? Trim my slip yoke some?

Here's how it looks.
