Been reading' up on two different steering systems and I'm interested to hear from people who have had experience with them. The Currie HD Steering system ( http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...t.aspx?id=1219 ) which I would use a tapered insert on the drivers side knuckle in order to flip the tie rod. The other option is to go with the Rusty's OTK conversion kit which comes with a new hd track bar which I like. ( http://www.rustysoffroad.com/jeep-st...-steering.html )

Have you checked out the IRO setup? They have a pretty nice otk set up as well. I like the currie over rustys though

How come in the picture of the JCR OTK kit the track bar is no where near parallel with the drag link? Is that not a concern anymore when you install that kit? And it does away with the stabilizer correct?

I second the serious offroad kit. I just got mine in today and that stuff is beef. Should be finishing it up in the morning.

I think you still need to adress the track bar/drag link angles. and yeah, no more steering stablizer. Is this a dd or an offroad only rig? If its a dd, i wouldent reccomend an otk. I would get an utk or a high steer kit like the Iron rock offroad one.

 

Serious/JCR similar setup, can be run UTK or OTK. Either way, they use larger ends and the knuckle will need to be reamed/drilled. I recommend drilling and using the goferit insert. Unless you have the cash to do EVERYTHING now. I would go with UTK setup, and drill/use the insert on the driver knucle and run OTK on that side. That way you can keep the rest of your setup at decent angles, and get more clearance.

 

JCR, Serious, an Currie are the only one's I would consider for my XJ

I've had Rustys Off road steering components fail after a few months.

 

I'm still utk but I drilled and used tapered inserts. I was going to just taper my knuckles but I didn't have the right reamer. To use the Chevy 1 ton tre you need a 1.5 inch per foot reamer.

If you drill them go slow use lots of oil and step up to the 7/8 don't go straight to it. I'll post some pics tomorrow of how it looks.

 

Its a a dd and a trail rig as well, my only vehicle so its both. Why is OTK bad for dd?
