Default Cross pin

I'm gearing my dana 30, first attempt at gearing anything myself. All is going well as far as breakdown, but i just stuck the spider gears in the new carrier, and i can't get the crosspin to fit through the holes of the carrier. Is there a trick to doing it or what? I've hammered it, greased it, everything... Thanks.

Needs to go in before the ring gear goes on the carrier

Should be. You're just going from a 3.55-down carrier to a 3.73-up carrier right?

Well just make sure the hole and pin are clean and lubed up and keep trying to tap it in. It will be a tight fit but it should go. Those carriers use the same pin

Should be fine as long as you only have one shim washer per spider

Once it gets spinning with gear oil on the street it will lossen up.
