I had a cracked manifold as well. I replaced it with a Pacesetter Header. I already had a Flowmaster 40 series muffler and while I was doing the header I replaced the 13 year old cat conv. For $100 with parts from PartsTrain.com. They are awesome and can't beat their prices. Sounds awesome!

On my 98, I am running the following:
- WJ Intake manifold
- Pacesetter long-tube header kit
- Universal Cat
- Flowmaster Super 44 Offroad muffler
- Custom 2.5" tailpipe to fit around my shocks and exit just in front of the rear shackle.
Sounds very throaty and mean!!

reviving this thread just to say that I finally got the Cherokee up in the air this weekend and got to spend some quality time staring at the underbits and getting intimate with various fluids (catching up on maintenance) holy heck that dent in the downpipe looks restrictive. Eyeballically, it looks like at one point there's less than 50% of the x-sectional area as there is in the section of pipe right before the cat. That's gonna bother me until I do something about it. To make matters worse, the first part of the downpipe is a smaller diameter than the rest of the exhaust even without the dent. I am really wishing there were an aftermarket mandrel bent stainless part that I could buy and just make all the ugliness go away.
Unfortunately, my entire exhaust system looks to be in pretty good shape, so I don't have a real excuse to replace any of it right now.

I have a 99 Cherokee with the rounded intake. I had no problems with the APN header, no grinding, no issues. Just follow the directions and you should be fine. I also have the Flowmaster super 44 muffler and it sounds real good.

Yes I have a magnaflow. I do not remember the part number at the moment. I am rumming a 2.5" exhaust also. I have had no issues with any of the parts. I have had them on for about a year.
