Cobra 8.8 swap
Ok so the 8.8 is a great axle for our XJs, but is it only truck/SUV 8.8s? My old Cobra was wrecked and I have the chance to get the 8.8 out of that. It is a 97 Cobra with 3.73s and limited slip. Would it be worth pulling and getting the install parts to mount it?

I beleive its a 31 spline and the length.... not full width, with out going there and measuring it im not sure. The now owner is waiting on his insurance company before anything can be done with it but i know for a fact that the car is totalled.

edit: after a quick google, apparently 94-99 mustang 8.8's did come with 31 spline.
but as said above, a little more narrow than the exploder 8.8. which is bad
so in response to your question....no, it would not be worth it to pull it.

The Cobra 8.8" is two short side tubes off of a standard 8.8" for width. I would still hit a junkyard over it. To skinny of an axle. However the LSD in it is a little better than the one in a standard 8.8" since it has carbon clutches in it.
