Clunk from front end
Alright so i have a clunk coming from my front end when i punch the gas from a stop. It clunks really hard when in 4lo. I can also feel it jerk when it clunks. I recently installed an sye. The chain dident seam to have an abnormal amount of play and nothing looked worn. I havent changed the front diff fluid but ive checked it and all looks good. I also get vibes above 5-6mph when im in 4hi. Driveshaft u-joints seam to be okay as well as axle u-joints. Anyone have any ideas?
Specs: 97 xj, aw4, np231 w/ teraflex sye, 3" lift.

Sounds to me like U-Joints. Either drive shaft or axels. I know you said you checked them and they seem fine but I would jack up the jeep put it on jack stands put it in neutral and check ALL your U-Joints really good. It may appear to look ok by eye but unless you hands on test the play between the two yokes you will know for sure.

How consistent is the chirping? Also since you're under there, give your track bar and link bushings a once over, probably not it but it wouldn't hurt to replace them if they're also 15 years old I'm on my phone, did that come pot as a smiley or just the code?

I had the same problem and it was that the bolts on one of my control arms weren't torqued down enough. I'd also check the tightness of the bolts on all your steering components including the ball joints.

You hit the nail on the head! i took off the front driveshaft, it still clunked, checked the axle u-joints. there good. I torqued down all the bolts on my control arms and track bar. The bushings on my steering are bad but there not too bad yet. They will be replaced later on with a crossover steering setup. My dad said to check the motor mounts and sure enough, the one on the drivers side is missing the top half of the bushing! Haha thanks for all the help you guys!
Anyone ever replaced that motor mount? Never replaced one before. Im gona do some searching but i wanted to see if anyone has some advice on it.
