Hey guys. I'll try and keep this short and to the point and avoid rambling on.
I stumbled across a great XJ fab site www.bsfab.net and specifically a write up that the fellow did on clocking his 231 up 10* by drilling offset holes in the rear transmission housing. I've searched far and wide for more info and found a few sources etc. My question is:
Could this be done - in theory - to the 242?
Do 242s and 231s pair up the same way to the rear housing?
Is it even worth it on the 242? I will definitely do this in the future, but budget is limited and I just purchased a hack n tap sye for my 242 so I'm not to keen on swaping in a 231 right away (although I would like to eventually down the road...)
From the sources I have read, this can all be acheived with little to no cuttting of the tranny hump in the cab, aside from some obvious hammering for more room. Linkage retains integrity (for the most part) etc.
Any thoughts, info, advice, personal experience (I've seen ktmracer's build thread and clocked case/flat belly skid combo...) or even some more internet resources would be awesome.
(Don't mind me if I bump this thread once or twice because I'm not really expecting responses to come flooding in right away)
Thanks guys.

nothing about clocking but this link explains. I thought about using their products to add more range.

If you don't mind, could you share the process with me and describe any of the hang-ups? I understand the basic concept and mechanical workings of the whole thing but I'm curious about the threshold of my hp d30, the need for a custom crossmember, any cutting involved in the cab, or mods to the linkage, stuff like that. If you got a bit of time to describe what you did that would be awesome.
Thanks for the reply.

The 242 is noticably smaller than the 231, idk if they were put into wranglers or not but wrangler tcases are clocked up much more than XJ's
Whoops, I meant larger not smaller. this is what happens when I have to much coffee
