Default clearing 35s with a 4.5 lift

I just picked up a set of 35s for my jeep and was wondering if anyone had and suggestions on how to clear them. I know im gonna have to cut alot off the fenders and the quarters but a buddy of mine told me about the high clearance inner fender wells from tnt customes. Does anyone have these? If so are they worth it and how hard is the install? I was also thinking about tubbing the rear. I read the write up on the forum about it and it was helpful but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other write ups else where that might be alittle more in depth. I have a mig welder and know how to use it so welding is not an issue. Here's some pics to see what im working with

Vary easy, scared people say u can't but it has been dune hundreds of times. But is this ur dd? If so u may want to reconsider. But if u want to do it go to Pirate 4x4 and check out the XJ section. Most of those XJ's running 40"+ only have 4-5" of lift. I don't think you mean to go as extreme as them but u can see the trimming they do and figure out how to do yours. I run 36's on 5.5" with minimum rub. Soon to be going bigger on tires with same size lift and no rub. With a welder anything is possible!

You can run 35s an stock lift, with modified steering and suspension, correct backspacing, bump stopping and trimming.

Be careful on Pirate since a lot of those guys also run full width axles with those tires so their stance is a lot wider. I had a buddy run 36" tires on a 3" lift, you just can't be afraid of chopping up the body. Same concept but a little different but I'm going to be running 37's with a 4" lift. Just make sure you measure everything out before chopping since it isn't all that easy to add what you chopped back on.

Lolz...wrong. Proper setup is key.

bumpstop bumpstops bumpstops - i recommend progressive bumps

and a bit of trimming you'll be good to go.

This probably will help you:

if I can fit 33s on a 3" you should be able to fit 35s on a 4.5"...

just don't be afraid to use this

I ran 35's with a 4.5 for awhile, bumpstopping is a must. I trimmed and beat in as much of the inner fender as I could. In the end I just went up to 6.5, I know the COG got higher but honestly XJ's are tiny compared to most newer vehicles. I parked next to my buddys liberty and with the lift and tires my roof might have been a inch higher than his sitting stock.

Thansk for all the input guys keep it coming evry little bit helps! I do alot a rock crawling and stuff like that so flex is a big thing so I don't really want to do bumpstops. I know 35s aren't the best for this with a 4.5 lift but the price was right. I was looking at the panel that the tnt high clearance panel replaces and its just spot welded in so I think it should be a pretty easy install. I wanna belive that those, some cutting and maybe tubbing the rear will allow for good flex with little rubbing and no extended bumpstops.

You're thinking about this wrong. Flex is not that dependent on uptravel, and is not limited by extended bumpstopping. A couple of inches of uptravel is more than sufficient, ESPECIALLY for rockcrawling. In fact bumpstopping will actually force the opposite tire down in a full flex situation, resulting in better traction (think see-saw).

example: KTMRacer's old rig on 3" lift and 36s:

Same rig, 2.5" lift on 37s with progressive bumpstops

Think he has uptravel issues? I think not if he's jumping it 3 feet in the air.

Now downtravel, that's very important for flex. That's what the lift will get you most. Long arms and long travel shocks will increase downtravel a great deal in the front, as will shackles and relocation boxes in the rear.

I'm just guessing here, but wouldn't less uptravel cause the vehicle to lean more towards the side with downtravel?

That's kinda what I was thinking to because, correct me if im wrong, but insnt the bump stop basically just an extension of the body? And if that's the case when the axle goes up on one side its gonna push the body to the other side when it hits bump stop causing it to lean. So in a full flex scenario you'll have more chance of rolling over. I don't have any kind of cage so that's not really what im looking to do.
