Choosing the right axles

I currently have both front and rear Dana 44 axles out of a k5 chevy blazer. However, I'm stumped as how to mount them to the jeep suspension. I already own these axles, but I would gladly sell them for an easier option.

you would need to cut off all the coil buckets and re-weld new ones in the proper location for your stock width suspension.
not that hard to do, but being chevy axles, they are passenger side drop, so in order to use these in your jeep, you would need to swap out your t-case and bolt up a d300 and change your stock exhaust so you can run a passenger side drive shaft.

you're right tho, it would be easier to just sell them and get yourself some ford axles.

Don't forget cutting the floor to clear the t-case and making a new tunnel and passenger seat mount.

As posted in the other thread, there are no easy options for a bigger front end. If you are going full width, you would be better off with Ford axles as stated above. A complete suspension bracketry overhaul will be needed with any swap, unless it came off an XJ.

you can't run a Chevy front axle - differential is on the wrong side of the vehicle. You need a driver's side drop axle.

rear one will work, but good luck finding a front with matching gears.


D44 out of a cherokee or wagoneer in the front, Ford 8.8 in the rear is the best combo IMO

For the work it takes to make d44 chevy axles work, might as well swap in 1tons. Same work

Better option would be a Rodeo D44 rear, comes with disc, 4.30 gears, some LSDs, same 6 lug pattern as the waggy front, same width as a waggy and no c-clips.
