Hey guys, first off Id like to say I did a search on this topic and didn't come up with much so that's why I'm posting this.
So one of the most popular rear lifts in the Toyota world uses the rear springs off of a 2wd 88-2010 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton Chevy pickup. What seems to be the easiest way is to take the stock Toyota rear shackle hanger and shackle, connect it to a stock Chevy shackle, and connect it to the spring. Then fab up a front shackle hanger, you'll have to set it further forward of the stock hangers position, and use a stock Chevy shackle to hook up the spring. Then after a little modding to the spring plate and u-bolts you will have a cheap lift and with the combo of the 63's and the dual rear shackles you have crazy flex.
My question is, has anyone ever done this, or can you even do this to an XJ and if so do you have any tips you could give me, anything you had to change from the way Toyota guys do it? I plan on doing this in the distant future so any help would be appreciated. Also about how much lift will this give you, it gives the yota guys about 3"-4". If anyone has ever done this before or if you know somebody that has could you post some pics of your/their jeep flexing and of it sitting on a flat surface? Thanks guys!

I've seen people do it before. The biggest problem I've noticed is that it puts the shackle so far behind the axle that the departure angle suffers bad.
Like so:
Edit: I'm not sure if those are Chevy leafs, just an example I found on Google.

Ya it will stick out a little out of the back.I just figured I'd integrate the shackle hangers into a rear bumper like a lot of the yota guys do.
Anyone else got any pics?

I agree I think a link would be a better option but I was just looking for a cheep rear end with a lot of flex. Since I have plenty of steel and I am very comfortable with my fab skills I think I could do 63"s for around $100, linking it would be a different story on the $$$ side.

double shackles are stupid
now that's out of the way, I would recommend going with a early 90's chevy 54" leaf spring for a Cherokee with a few leafs removed. you'll end up with a couple inches stretch, a couple inches lift, and an all around very reasonable controllable flexy rear end. chevy 63's are just way too long. I had to fabricate front shackle hangers forward and then hang some shackles off my rear bumper for my chevy 56's. It's not the end of the world, but I high lined my rear bumper so they're not hanging down forever
chevy springs in my opinion are the best way to do it. they're cheap, plentiful, last awhile, and are easy to swap on if you can weld. but 63's are HUGE
