Default chevy 350 swapped

Hey guys so have not been on in a while but some ***** ran a red light and totaled my cuz.. I am looking at a 87 with a chevy 350 and turbo th400 behind it. Problem is its carberated and been told it won't be nothing but problems in the trails.. ?? Is this true? I will be running my axles under it wich is ford 8.8 and hp 30 with 4.88s. Worth it or just go with another 4.0?

4.0 will be a hell of an easier swap. If you do a lot of off camber driving the carb will be an issue.

Holley truck avenger was built for offroad application. I have no experience with them, though. I cant imagine it competes with efi though, especially for low speed intentions... I know there are some available applications for swapping from carb. to efi, something to consider.

I would assume with a v8 youd run heavier axles, too?

With EFI you can still run even when it's upside down.

I had a 79 k5 blazer with that carb and had no problems with it on hill climbs I ran an electric fuel pump with it id say buy it put a electric fuel pump and swap the carb to a holly truck avenger carb and go have a blast with it

What does an electric fuel pump have to do with off camber or fooked up terrain running? Fuel in the bowl moves around ,uncover a jet you get issues, fuel runs past the venturies or overflows the vent you got a problem.

I have experienced carb'ed k5 blazers offroad, and none of them ever stalled out, but they smoked like crazy and ran real rough, even with electric fuel pump. Must be the pa hills

don't forget the cooling system upgrades if the PO neglected that aspect, a v8 on the trail gets hot quick, triple threat fan would be a good investment
