I mean seriously I could list tons of other cars I'd rather put it in. Could find a roller E30 for ~$1000 with little rust....bam.

I mean it looks really sick, but I just can't wrap my head around putting one in a Cherokee.
the better question to you is why not?? there are plenty of ls motors to go around. why not use one in a cherokee? looks like an awesome swap..

Yes, a truck motor is typically cheaper. However, you can run the car intake, accessories etc. You will want a tune anyways, so you can tune it to comp the difference between the truck intake and car intake.

Well I basically copied a sway bar that skyjacker sells for the TJ I think they call it the rocloc. This has worked better than I ever imagined. I don't know about you but I hate using conventional sway bar discos but this setup takes about 2 seconds to disconnect and it doesn't require getting dirty. I used a locking hub from an f350, a torsion bar from a dodge Dakota , some pillow bearings from tractor supply, some random sway bar end links, and some 1/4" plate.

My whole thing is not needing all that extra power for a utility/offroad vehicle. I just don't really see the point, except in the rare cases like hill climb racers and stuff like that. I see engines like LS1's being more for racing, especially when dropped in tiny little cars for power/weight ratio.
I just got back from a trip from Austin TX to Monterey CA pulling a small camper behind my Jeep on the way back. Even before I got the trailer I was surprised and disappointed at the nutlessness of my 4.0L going up mountain roads. Pulling the trailer sucked. I had to run in 3rd (AW4) on flat roads if the wind wasn't with me. Two days after I got back I dropped my 6.0 block off at the machine shop. This is happening now. I hope mine ends up looking as good as the OPs.

Good luck. I started my swap about 5 months ago. Should be nearing completion soon (ish).

Just be ready to spend some money!

Here's my build thread so you can see.

Thanks for sharing your thread. I thought I'd read them all but I haven't seen yours so i look forward to reading. Mine will take a long time just to get the drivetrain together. I'm building the motor and transmission. It will be my second LS build and my third 4L60E build. I'll get the drivetrain all put together, along with the engine wiring harness that I'll build for the first time and then do the actual swap. I plan to go with Novak for the mounts and Advance Adapters for the trans/TC adapter since it includes the VSS where it needs to be and just use a stock NP231J.

nice you gonna do a thread? i feel the same way about my 4.0(its partialy because im geared a hair to low, but perfect for the 5.3) shes just guttless going up decent hills on the highway, esspecially if im full of passengers and my normal gear. i figure i was either just going to build a stroker and rebuild the aw4 or just do a 5.3 swap for a similar amount of money (stroker/aw4 build would probably be cheeper) and get a low mileage motor/trans and tons of hp in stock form, and better mpgs to boot(assuming i can keep my foot out of it haha)

im waiting to pick my 5.3 and trans from the salvage yard, and to move, i should be started on my swap by the 1st

OP, can you tell us what year Camaro SS exhaust manifolds you used? They look like gen III manifolds. Is that right?

Here's where I'm at! Fresh from the machine shop. I know its a long way off but I still wish I could figure out which (if any) stock style manifolds will work with the Novak motor mounts.

I think Gen3 Camero manifolds dump at the back of the block, but still require modification. Honestly Novak is probably easier
