CB problem
Ok so i got a cobra 75 handheld that i hooked up yesterday connecting to a wilson little wil magnet antenna. Both wire are run directly to the batter. The cb is crystal clear when theres no engine running and when i turn it on all the noise kicks in.. what could the problem be and how do i fix it?

no... read up on acceptable radio practices, the cleanest spot is the battery
I am an FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operator, holding a general glass License, second highest you can get right now.
so lets talk about real solutions...
go to radio shack and purchase a ferrite core, then coil your power and ground leads through them,
if this does not work try messing with the way you routed the power and ground wire, BUT keep them attached to the battery
you might also try running a dedicated ground to the alternator
you might try relocating the antenna, but that most likley will do nothing
you could look into a noise filter, might work, might not
a large capacitor on the alternator might help

no problem brother, I hope it works for you
I might also mention that the lil' wil is a short antenna, with a mag mount and coil in the base, it does not ground and as such can be more prone to noises, try running a small ground wire from the nut on the bottom of your lil wil, that might clear it up
