Not to hijack this thread but I have a cobra 2ltd classic and it plugs into my cigarette outlet and I have a Wilson little wii antenna also. It does sound pretty staticky would grounding it help?

well grounding is always a good idea, but you need to understand that and antenna should be 1/4 wave length long, in this case for CB (around 27Mhz) that would be around 102" - 110" in the case of the Ham band's 160m band, (1.8Mhz - 2.0Mhz) it would be around 120 FEET long. in the case of 144Mhz the antenna would be about 19", and about half that for 220Mhz

the big issue you are facing here is the antenna is small, that causes all sorts of issues, for starters I found the lil wil hard to tune on all portions of the CB band, I found it hard to hear other people with, and people could not hear me very well...

I have been (slow) writing a HOW TO CB guide for another forum I frequent, I guess it's time to set it up here.
