Cargo windows
im actually in the process of making that happen. lol
i'll be using 1/8" plate instead of sheet metal. hinge it, and put a lock on the outside so i can access the cargo area without opening the hatch. plus im going to seal it with weather stripping.
you got something going yet?

1/8 is pretty beefy.
If you do it like a tool access it would be cool to have an upper area that us easy to access. Even a basket style roof rack would be cool back there.
