Does the bolt head or nut turn?

mine would not, until I used my big hydraulic floor jack under the spanner. I assumed this was because some PO had used red loctite

If the nut has been loosened off, please disregard

yes the nut comes off easily, it’s the actual bolt that won’t turn or anything

Keywords are telling... "spanner", You must be in the UK or from the UK? Just curious so I can test my knowledge of terminology translation.

In Australia mate, us older ones still speak English, in addition I was schooled in both Imperial and got metric too, just as well with these nutz Jeep fastener sizes!

in this case I used a 13/16" ring spanner, (as opposed to the "open" end).... think maybe the correct size is 21mm?

I get confused when i see "box wrench"..the open end being box shaped & all

Lol... I see. Same terminology based on origin of the language. I hear you with these mixed sizes on Jeeps, and some are absolutely strict to size, no cheating by using a 13mm on an SAE 1/2'', too small. Kind of like the time I rebuilt my 50 BSA. I had no Whitworth tools so I had to mix and match "close" metric and SAE along with two different size Crescent Wrenches to get it done.

Went to a little local shop and the guy got it out with a heavy duty impact working it back and forth. Thanks for all the input!

I can strongly recommend " Metwrinch" brand tools, they have a patented design that grips the flats, not corners of a fastener, meaning, that
a) they are excellent for getting rounded fasteners undone
b) one spanner covers both Imperial, Metric, and Whitworth size,,ie 1/2" & 13mm

they are also high quality, (and quite expensive)..sockets and spanners,,,if I only had one choice, that would be it. Good for Jeepers, especially on the trail

Of course, one needs many sets of sockets and spanners, probably twenty or more

I have complete sets of Whitworth tools, purchased for peanuts at an industrial plant close down auction, good for working on my old Jaguars

I currently have a 47 GMC "Deuce and a half" 10 wheel drive soft top military that has been in the family since before I was born. It has a boom on it and has been our well pulling rig since it was purchased used from the Ventura electric company.

I really like the look of the 55, reminds me of Bentley or Rolls. The 69 has Daimler written all over it. lol

I asked about war era and prewar era because the SS Cars Jag predecessors are getting pretty valuable.

I apologize also... But did wait until you got the bolt loose. lol

dont sell that Jimmy, wish I never had. The '55 is very much like a Bentley, the 420G is not like a Daimler...its the BIG one..think MKX..my V12 is a Daimler (Van Den Plas Double Six)..a top of the line V12 sedan

Just re-attached LCAs on the spare white Jeep, assemble entire front end 90min,,,, took me 4hrs on black one...thread back on track!
