Ok so I have my new JK shocks for my ZJ. I know I will need to order BPEs for the front. I'm going with IRO. however they have two different styles. One is a new bracket which would work for the front. The other looks like it's what I will use for the rears( since they have the flat plates). But I'm wondering if those flat plates can be removed so I can just bolt it right up.

Are you sure those are the right shocks? My ZJs rear shocks didn't use the flat plate, just a bolt on top and another on the bottom. My front ones did use the plate though and so will yours on the axle end.

I have heard several people say JK shocks can be used for ZJ/XJ

In order to use those you'll have to take the plates out of the rears and put them in the fronts for them to work. That's assuming they are the right length.
