I did a cam swap from comp cam. They custom made me a cam to work with stock valve springs. They were very helpfull and it was around $350 for the cam, timing chain, lifters, and break in oil. The guys name was Stephan Siegel that I worked with.

learning as i go here, but are the stages your talking about different degrees of upgrades? i want to do a mild cam upgrade, nothing to crazy where im gonna havta upgrade everything in my engine, but im already upgrading my exhaust manifold with the APN manifold, upgraded fuel injectors, new gaskets and seals all round. ill have the 99+ intake manifold and will be hopefully also putting in a new exhaust. so with all this being said where should i start when looking to upgrade my cam?

I would also like to find a cam to just swap in and no other upgrades. I have a 2000 with 4 hole injectors, strokedjeep.com throttle body, airaid filter, dynomax exhaust, superchips tuner.... would love a mild cam wihtout other add ons

smart. IMO a cam swap is the BEST way to get more out of an engine. When I rebuilt my wakeboard boat engine, I had one custom cut specifically for the RPM range, hole shot and torque I was looking for. http://www.camresearchcorp.com/

They even cut it with the dizzy gear backwards first (miscommunication on my part), so they cut me another and sent it free of charge. I wouldn't be afraid of upgrading the springs in the head to get better performance. the increased lift and flow would be worth it. You're going to be tearing pretty far into the engine, why not do it right? they come with lifters. upgrade or at least replace the timing chain and gears if you've got some miles on her. put a decent exhaust and intake to let the increased flow do its job and boom! you've got some good tire spinning HP.

I have a mild cam in my jeep. the power difference is so great compared to other engine upgrades(besided the 4.7 stroker). definitly worth the upgrade.

ok.. from what im finding most places make cam upgrades according to specifications.. do they make kits that arnt set to specifications and more of say a "range" of power depending on the other upgrades you currently have setup?
