Anybody thought of using an ac condeser as a tranny cooler? Its there already if you had ac and since mine is inop anyway just thought about flushing the condenser really good and plumbing it up as the biggest most awesome tranny cooler ever! Any thoughts?

 

Yeah do it, I have a buddy that wheels with me and has his K5 set up like that. It works great he has never had a prob with it.

 

Nice, at least someone else has done it. I couldnt think of a down side so i thought id post it in case someone knew.something I didnt.

 

Im sure it can be done but just spend 30 bucks on a real tranny cooler

Theve used the for years down here on swamp buggys ,also adds extra fliud capacity .

 

I did it on my last build. After I converted the AC pump to OBA. Works perfect. Then I used my stock tranny cooler as a power steering cooler. My power steering pump was way happier.

Good to know it works, my thought was the extra fluid capacity since ive got 260k on my tranny, and why spend the $30 when I have a cooler thats 4x as big for free?
