Default bumper questions

I built some front d ring mounts to stick thru my stock bumper but on my 99 I have the big end caps that are right where these will stick thru so I was wondering can I put pre 97 bumper caps on my 99 bumper to alow for my mounts. I realize I could just run without them but I dont really like the look. I also realize I could just build a bumper from these mounts thats the plan later on down the road. Anyone know if this will work? Heres pics of my mounts I made.

There's a person on here who makes those for that reason, his tabs are noticeably longer to stick out past the caps.

Yes you can use the pre=97 end caps. I did it on my last XJ, front and rear. Just have to drill holes to mount them so they don't fly off.

One thing I see for the D-Ring to attach to needs to be 1" solid steel on that end...........but its your life and not mine.
