I broke my upper shackle mount bolt. What's easiest way to get it out? Cut the floor or drop the tank and take a torch to it and hope it turns?

try to get a sawzall in there and cut both sides of the bolt then replace the bushing and bolt. if that dont work then get the lower part off and use a grinder with a cut off disk and cut the bolt the same way. most likley the bolt froze in the bushing so get a new bushing then start cutting

If I get a blade in and cut either side, won't there still be a nub of the bolt in the welded nut in the frame rail? I have new hardware, shackles, and leafs so I'may not worried about mangling. Just wanted to find away to not cut through my floor

I think your options are limited.... cutting the bolt on either side would leave a nub in the welded nut section.... maybe you could heat it and use an extractor bit, but its hard to get something like that in there.... if you could make two cuts on the upper shackle and make a window to slide the shackle off of the bolt then you would have some bolt left in the hanger to heat and put some vice grips on.... im pretty sure that most people have to cut the bolt on either side and then cut a small hole in the floor and access the bolt from the backside, heat it up, and turn it from there.... there are videos on youtube about it.....

I had to cut my shackle in half, cut out the bushing and cut of the inner sleeve so I could get the bolt out. 3" cut off wheel and a razor blade got the shackle, bushing and sleeve out.

Take the leaf off of the shackle so you can move it to make a cut on either side.

I cut the shackle in half and found the bolt had snapped at the head but also at the weld nut. The nut took a small chunk of metal off the frame rail too so I cut the floor. I got a slightly longer bolt and used a washer, a drilled piece of steel and a new nut in there nice and tight. Worked well, I didn't want to cut the floor but I got over that...

Thanks for the help. I think I knew it was going to come to cutting the floor and was being stubborn.

Thoughts?
The washers are to compensate for the "bump" in the frame rail.






I'd like to ride this out for the winter and when I do an aftermarket bumper throw to more bolts through the square stock from back frame towards the motor
