Had a very strange problem with my jeep, just wondering if it had happened to anyone else or how i prevent it from happening again. for a while i was hearing a starge occasional grinding from my rear passenger tire. last night it got really bad and my jeep grinded to a halt. i drove it home and pulled off the ire and drum. as the drum came off my entire drum brake assemble fell to the ground it a mangled heep. any ideas on why or how?

Retaining pin peobably broke. Sure sign of neglect. this is why you are supposed to inspect you vehicle regularly, especially if it is wheel. brakes should be checked every 3 months or so, or before and AFTER any trip off the pavement.

after sorting through the heep trying to see what i had and did not, the only thing i couldnt find was my second retaining pin. and the little cap that heald it in. everything else was srewed as well though.
however it was not that badly neglected. i do the standered safty inspection every month. i do do some serious mud and boulder srcaping problems.
