Hey guys, I just recently picked up an Aw4 30-42le trans since mine in my current Jeep is slipping pretty bad and can barley do an 8th throttle before it does. Anyways I just found out that the trans I bought is for 2wd models, but still has a 23 spline output. Would I still be able to use this if I swap out my current one?

 

2wd to 4wd AW4 conversions are possible but they requires a significant amount of work. The 2wd output shaft is different from the 4wd unit so you will have to completely disassemble both transmissions to swap output shafts. I hate to say this but the easiest solutions is to find another 4wd AW4.

 

Pulled me current tranny out of my Xj, turns out they’re the same. Only difference is the connectors, since the one I picked up was pulled out of a later year Xj than mine.
