I really really like the bright white and distance from my Silverstars. Too costly at $65 pair cdn. Not the cost per pair BUT I am very disappointed in having to replace them about 2X per year. I have collected too many failed lights. Given the Peep runs over 1100km weekly year long and some rough rides on the weekend. I really like the qualtity of the light out put but expect for the price they should last longer. I have run fresh 14ga wiring to both, good soldering and heat shrink on all connections. I also have cleaned the contacts in the wire plug each time. Even with the mean eyes I still have a great low beam. The mean eyes have shrouded the high beam but I have other options for high lite requirements. Running them for 3 years. I have saved the burned out sealed beams and plan to do a new roof setup with 5 Silverstars wired for the high beam.
When I set the lights aim to spec I get flashed a lot so I actually aim them a bit low for oncoming courtesy. Those ambers are also angled to the right and are not problematic for oncoming on the road in inclement, great in tight woods! So I guess bottom line is I really like the light but am grumpy about the lack of longevity.

I'll probably go with the Silverstars. Save the extra money for the lightbar, haha. So I take it the Silverstars are better than the Xtravisions?
And I just go to the store and buy two of these and that's it? Since I don't want to upgrade my housing.

Thanks guys!

I have read threads were others have no problems with the Silverstars survival rate.
With reference to my current roofs and fogs, a cheap Blazer brand light from Cdn Tire store, $32 pair. I get the plastic housings and change the bolts to stainless. No rust problems. As the lights are cheap they are easy on the pocket book to replace if broke. Only had two burn out in. Roofs on for 3 years and only replaced one burn out.
They are 55W each so you need heavy gage wire to feed and to ground. Feed them thru relays, not direct thru the control switch. I run 10ga feeds to the relays direct off the batter with fuse in line. I understand a very similar low cost light is available at the Wallmart. There are better light brands out there, I compensate for the lighting power thru volume. The good lights are pricy and might upset one if broken by thrown stone or tree branch. I have more pics in a profile album.

Before you do anything, save yourself some headaches and upgrade the harness. www.eautoworks.com has a nice one. If you don't upgrade the harness first, look forward to melted headlight switch harnesses/plugs and failed headlamp switches. And, guess when those things fail---at night.

I doubt an auto parts store is gonna carry an upgrade harness. That's why I included the web address: www.eautoworks.com. Do the harness FIRST. You won't believe how much brighter the stock headlights will be. And, it takes all the load off your headlight switch.
Also to you still run all new wire from the battery to a relay and then to the new harness?

It's really easy to install. No worries.
