Hey guys how's it goin?
I recently picked up a new 1994 cherokee after my last one got totaled by a drunk driver :/
Anyways the new jeep is lifted 4.5in but needs new shocks badly. My old one had Rough country shocks on it which were great for the money but were very firm. Ive got about $450 to spend on shocks.
Im looking for something a little softer riding, I was looking into Bilstein 5100's but my local performance shop said hes had nothing but problems with them. Also looked into Fox 2.0's and Rancho 9000's but haven't had any experience with any other ones.
I use the jeep 80% DD and 20% weekend warrior.
What else would you guys suggest??
PS-heres a pic of the new jeep

Sorry to hear about your old Jeep. But the new one looks really nice. I've only heard good things about the bilstein's, that is what I am planning on after the long arms are here. The fox 2.0 are nice, but I've only driven one XJ with them and could not say they were any better or worse than bilstein's.
Either way will be better than the RC shocks, check out Serious Offroad (frankZ) on here. He has good package deals from time to time.

4.5in lift here and Im running 32in long(14in travel) doetsch tech 8000's with my long arm. Love the ride.
If you want a softer ride, invest in a long arm setup or lower it to 3in's

bilstien 5100s only run about $85 each i sell them all the time and they really are a nice shock. never had a complaint, there is a reason many companies sell that shock as an upgrade option to there lift kits

I agree though. softer ride will be bilsteins and long arms. I just bent the **** out of my lower short arms so I'll finally be stepping up to long travel. the short arms/stock shackle angle will ride like crap anyway I spent like $50 on autozone shocks. bottom them out hard and they haven't blown. even if they do, they're lifetime no questions
cheap out I say. do it right when you're ready. no use in buying 2 pairs of expensive shocks

It doesn't bottom out on the road ever, and has more droop then my extended brake lines allow(not pictured.. yet lol) with just enough bumpstopped uptravel to keep big tires from eating my fenders. Will be going with IRO stainless lines soon.

At 4.5" Your ride would improve greatly with drop brackets.
