I got a year and a half old yellow top in the garage that won't hold more than 8 volts. Never again. BTW you cannot charge them with a conventional charger, learned that with the first one. This is the second and not sure what's wrong with it.

I've heard some people using this method to charge a dead optima.
Basically you take a known good battery connect it in parrallel with the optima then put the charger on the good battery and charge both batteries at once.
Since Optima has moved production out of country I've heard of alot of people complaining about how crummy the batteries are.
There are plenty of other AGM on the market and cheaper as well.

Optima has steadily gone done hill after their buy out earlier last decade, from what I heard. Between using lesser quality materials and such and such.
with that sad, I have a yellow top myself, almost 2 years old. I've heard from people that http://www.odysseyfactory.com/ has the best quality batteries as of today. They use the same idea as Optima, just inside of spirals, they use flat plates. Quality is still there also.
As always, it's up to you OP to decide haha.

I was thinking the same thing.
I like running a Diehard because I can warranty it at any Sears in the US.
Edit: Just did some checking online and the Diehard Platinum series are made by Odyssey.
