So I finally ripped my sagging headliner out and decided to just spray the fiberglass board with Dupli-Color bedliner. I've seen it done on here and I liked the look, plus I'll never have to worry about another sagging headliner or that stupid foam every again.

I also decided to paint my overhead lights and speaker grills to match. Just have to recover my sun visors at some point.

 

Looks great. I may do that to mine in the summer...

 

Gotta say that looks pretty boss. If one of my jeeps didn't come with a brand new headliner and overhead console I would do this is a heartbeat.

Wonder if it'll hold heat in the summer...?

It was pretty bad for a while, lol.
I asked my friend when he got in, "Does it still smell like paint in here? Cause I can't tell anymore" and he said YES. So maybe I am still buzzing, haha.

So I have this bad habit of listening to my iPod through my speakers while I work on my truck, and despite reading all the posts about hitting a wire while taking your headliner out and shutting off all interior power...I still did. And yes I blew two fuses while unhooking my vanity mirrors and had to listen to music on my phone the rest of the time. Oops

Somebody told me to put a cup of vinegar in there to remove the smell.

I said, I'm sure it would, cause it'll just smell like vinegar then, lol

Has anyone done that though?

 

I did the same thing. Was so tired of the liner flopping on the top of my head. The odor was strong for a couple weeks but I think it's pretty much gone now. I did it about 3-4 weeks ago. Never tried vinegar or anything else I just kept the windows open a little. One thing I realized after the fact is that while reaching and scraping my knuckles across it, it is really rough and unforgiving.

 

I used that vinegar trick in my new apartment about a week ago. Just set a bunch of small bowls of it around the place. It pretty much absorbs nasty smells. It smelled like vinegar for a day afterward but once that went away, the nasty smell was gone too. I'd say try it out

 

Baking soda works well too. Open up a box and set it somewhere it won't fall over it will suck up the smell. Used it to get rid of the smell of dead rats in a neighbors trailer that afternoon smell was gone.

 

Cool, I might try the baking soda to prevent any vinegar from spilling, cause that would create a whole other problem, lol
