i've always used 3/8. but have to drill out the stock cherokee main leaf to accept that size as all s-10 leafs are 3/8 and if i recall so are dakotas.

Not to mention the ability to customize your pack. When it only cost 50 bucks for a new lift leaf pack, you can play around more. S10 springs, Dakota springs, Rodeo springs, MJ springs, another XJ.

Also, you wont have to drill the center pin holes of the XJ springs if you get dodge dakota leaf springs. They have the same size hole. When I did my lift, I just arranged the springs and used a C clamp to bring them together, then measured the width of the center of the pack and took the old center pin bolt to Napa and got a longer one. They were able to take the old bolt and match it up to a new longer one. Just a tid bit of info from my experience.

use xj main, cut the eyes off s-10 main and use that second, then use s-10 second leaf as your third, then last 3 xj leafs.
that should get you around 3 inches.
it's really all trial and error tho. you may have to try different leafs from your xj and s-10 donor pack to get your desired height.
just don't torque everything down until you get the height you want.
make sure you have at least 5 leafs, 6 is better.
just remember, you have to drill out each xj leaf to the same size as the s-10 center holes. and drilling is a pain in the junk. you can save yourself the headache and try a selection of s-10 leafs with the main xj to get your height.
